The GCAO Homework Club is an after-school program, designed to provide elementary to high school students aged (6 years to 18 years) complete their homework with the support of the volunteers within the Ghanaian-Canadian community. Student performance has been steadily declining. For many of our youth today, nearly 50% of Ontario students have failed to meet the standards in math during the standardized test from the Education Quality and Assessment Office (EQAO). Moreover, the homework club is an excellent option for working parents or new immigrant families who at times face economic and language barriers who are unable to assist their children with challenging homework tasks. The GCAO Homework Club begins on Sunday afternoon from 3:30 p.m. to 5.00 p.m
Mission/Vision of the afterschool program
Our vision is to develop a creative, respectful and intellectual learning environment for the Ghanaian-Canadian community. This space will encourage a group of young leaders in the next five years, who have been mentored by existing youth, who in turn can continue the mentorship and educational assistance to the succeeding generation of youth in Canada.
