Homework Club

The Homework Club, one of GCAO’s first programs, is an after-school program that is designed to provide elementary to high school students aged (6 years to 18 years) support in completing their homework as well as developing other skills. The program is run by registered teachers as well as retired teachers and community members who have experience working with children and youth.

Nearly 50% of Ontario students have failed to meet the standards in math and English during the standardized test from the Education Quality and Assessment Office (EQAO). As student performance continues to be a challenge for many families, the Homework Club provides valuable resources to students, while being an excellent option for working parents or new immigrant families who may face economic and language barriers, and are unable to assist their children with challenging homework tasks.

The Homework Club’s Mission & Vision
To develop a creative, respectful, and intellectual learning environment for the Ghanaian-Canadian community. We believe the after-school program will empower young leaders, who have been mentored by existing youth and young adults, to pass on mentorship and educational assistance to the succeeding generation of youth in Canada.
