On August 18th 2012, The Ghanaian community of Toronto witnessed its first annual Akwaaba Festival. The event was a success and well organized event presented by the Ghana Canadian Association of Ontario (GCAO) and the Ghanaian Canadian  Multi-Cultural Center (GCMCC).

The event encompassed Ghanaian music, culture, dance, comedy, poetry,fashion and a live band with international performing artists on the big Amphitheatre stage. The Ghanaian Canadian Association of Ontario & the Ghanaian Canadian Multi-Cultural Center with its member organizations welcomed the communityto this unique event that aimed to help bring the community together annually to showcase and promote our motherland Ghana here in Canada. Some of the prominent invited guests include Honorable Consulate General of Ghana, Mr. Kodjo A. Mawutor, Ashanti King Nana Anokye, Members of the Toronto Police Foundation, and the local media.
